Name of Drug
Barosmae folium, buchu leaf.

Composition of Drug
Buchu leaf consists of the dried leaves of Barosma betulina Bartl. (syn. Agathosma betulina (Berg) Pill.) [Fam. Rutaceae], as well as preparations thereof.

Uses
Buchu leaf is used for inflammation and infection of the kidneys and urinary tract, for bladder irritations, as a disinfectant of the urinary tract, and as a diuretic.

The effectiveness for the claimed applications is not documented.

Risks
Buchu has essential oil that contains diosmin and pulegone, which can cause irritation. There are no reports of cases of poisoning.

Evaluation
Since the claimed effectiveness has not been documented, the application of buchu leaf cannot be recommended.

The use of buchu leaf as an aroma or flavor corrigent in tea mixture is acceptable.

Hoæeš li biti toliko dobra, pa me poduèiti osnovno u èitanju i pisanju, slabo mi ide, a naroèito mi ide slabo klasièni grèki, ne znam prevesti: Gnosi te seum, kao ni latinski: cogni te ipso. A mogla bi mi dati i osnove francuske geografije, valjalo bi i tu se bolje obrazovati. Srdaèan pozdrav.

Edible burdock is a member of the Compositae family. Some of the other common names by which burdock is known are gobo (Japanese name), ngau pong (Chinese name), harlock, edible goberon, bourholm, eddick, flapper-bags, sticky buttons, beggar's buttons, clot, clod, cockly, and hurr-burrs. Also, the plant's burrs are called cuckolds, cuckles, cuckold's buttons, and cuckoldy busses.

There are two botanical species of burdock, A. lappa and A. minus. The one found growing wild throughout much of the United States is A. minus and is only slightly comparable to the cultivated A. lappa. Gobo (burdock) is a choice chinese vegetable.

Although burdock grows wild and thrives throughout the United States, it is not native. It was introduced by the early settlers and was quickly adopted by the American Indians for their own gardens. These coarse perennial plants are weeds in many temperate areas. The tops die down in the winter. New sprouts arising from roots in spring are peeled and eaten raw or cooked. The dried roots from the first year's growth and the seed are used medicinally.

Chaparral, also referred to as Greasewood, Creosote Bush, Chaparro, Little Stinker, and Goberrnadora, is an herb derived from the common desert shrubs Larrea tridentata and Larrea divaricata. Native to the Southwestern United States, the leaves and stem of these desert plants have been used for centuries by Native American healers. Twentieth century herbalists had come to view chaparral as an effective herbal antibiotic and as a possible treatment for intestinal parasites. Chaparral has also been historically employed as a support remedy for the treatment of colds, flu, and diarrhea.
